mmmm biscuits!

I made some biscuits from scratch for dinner and they were duhlishus, even though i used half whole wheat flour.  nyla ate two with a little honey, along with homemade chicken soup.  I also made ratatouille while bobby napped.  I will not let the family starve!  getting some good cooking practice these days.

alum rock park

it took us a loooooong time with the little ones (mostly bobby stopping, wanting to run downhill, wanting chocolate) to get up to eagle rock point but we did it!  the view was pretty with the fog.  kids climbed big rocks and did not want to come down.  they are regular hikers and climbers! nyla ran a lot of the hill and was proud she picked this park to go to today.  everyone had fun.

mushrooms in the 'hood

nyla and I saw some mushrooms growing under a tree as we were moseying around the complex.   there seemed to be three types.  we took pictures so we can look them up later.  we also used sticks to dig up every single one.  cheap entertainment!

hermey has arrived

nyla found him today in our tree.  we have missed him and hope the kids will be on their best behavior so hermey will send good reports to santa.

we put up the tree early this year so we can enjoy it before hawaii.  bubbie came over to help and we celebrated her birthday before she goes home for thanksgiving.  we made grandmommy's potato dumpling soup and steak.  delicious!

pearl gives birth!

our guppy named pearl gave birth to about 30 babies (or fry) this afternoon.  we unfortunately did not see the birth, but earlier in the day she was still pregnant and later she is totally svelte!  the babies are hiding in the rocks and behind the plants because pearl is trying to eat them!  we shall see how many are still there in the morning.  nyla hopes at least one survives.

bobby enjoyed a PILE of watermelon slices for dessert.  since watermelon season has passed I have held off on buying it.  you never know if you will get a good one.  well this little one I got at the new chinese market by our place was juicy delicious. 
just before this we had some comfort food- meatloaf, mashed potatoes and peas.  look at my cuties!!!!

accomplishment!

bobby called me into his room to show me how he lined up his cars.  they were perfectly straight but moved when I ran to get my camera.  he is so proud of himself when he accomplishes something.  he also loves to just grab a book by himself for a good read.  here he is telling me what an owl sounds like.  gotta go...he is calling!

shower time!

bobby loves being alone in the shower.  I usually shower with him after little gym, before nap.  I get out first and give him a few minutes of personal time.  he never wants to get out!

my first time making one.  nyla approves!  she even has a second piece.  of course she loves anything that seems like cake.  and she helped me mix the ingredients.  cutie.

so I must have washed this brown hat I crocheted for big bob because look who is wearing it now!  and not to be outdone, here is miss moo in one of her beanies.  it was brrrrr frigid today but we put on some winter gear and walked over to the park to let the kids get their willies out.

nyla helps me prepare soybean sprouts for our korean soup.  we pull off the tails and make sure the head does not have a cover on it.  the soup is good on a brisk afternoon.

Well we took an impromtu trip to a county park after driving the hills of san jose and milpitas.  This was all at nyla's request.  She wanted to see what was up there in them hills and see the view from above and such.  On this excursion, we saw horses, cows, deer, geese, ducks, and turkeys!  The kids threw rocks into a lake and boy, it was brisk.  Even nyla got cold and this is a girl who wants to wear tank tops and dresses all the time.
