nyla and I put some pinto beans in a plastic cup with a damp paper towel after soaking them overnight to germinate them. it has been about four days, and we found these today! nearly all of them are sprouting. fun!

sanborn county park
we went for a little hike today. it was so nice to get out in the woods and it was only a half hour away, near saratoga. kids loved it, but they wear out after about a half mile. after our walk we hung out in the grassy field and collected pinecones to make our squirrel family dinner. belsh and I were brother and sister squirrel and nyla and bobby were ma and pa squirrel. after that scrumptious dinner, we picked up real food at falafel drive in. much better tasting!

bobby had taken to trying fotward rolls throughout the day. we will be playing and he will just bust one out.

his favorite, teddah. they dont make these anymore but fortunately found one on ebay from some mom in texas. we are keeping it safely locked up for the inevitable day there is an arm tear off or mysterious disappearance!

bobby gets a haircut
I contemplated taking bobby to a salon after we decided he was due for his second ever haircut, but thought better of it since he is such a squirmy worm. so mommy, aka cook, housekeeper, admin, bookkeeper, can now add hairstylist to her list of titles. not bad, if I do say so myself. it was difficult, what with all the chasing around and restraining, but he looks super cute and even dare I say more mature! here are before and after pics.

moo's injury
nyla sustained some scratches at the park today when she fell onto a small dried bush. :( she cried a little but is mostly taking it like a big girl.
keeping kids busy
they spent 30 minutes peeling boiled eggs and eating them. fun, cheap entertainment and they get some protein. then the kids helped me make a yummy ginger cake. nyla said it was good, but not as good as the one she had at starbucks after a hike on her daddy daughter date yesterday. funny.
big sis
bobby woke in the middle of the night crying about something and ended up in our bed. he woke early and watched tv from 530 to 730, went back to sleep for two hours and woke again complaining about his arm (wrist) hurting and not moving it much. this has happened before, so we dosed him with advil and nyla tucked him into the couch and rubbed his head. cuties. what a good big sis. arm seems ok now, but keeping an eye on it.
